Le président Yahya Jammeh, à la tête de la Gambie depuis 16 ans, a procédé à un nouveau remaniement de son gouvernement, en renvoyant quatre ministres qui étaient en charge du Tourisme, des Collectivités locales, de la Pêche et de l'Eau, a-t-on appris lundi de source officielle.

Aucune raison officielle n'a été avancée pour ce remaniement, dans le communiqué l'annonçant. Mais une source officielle a mis en avant des problèmes de corruption.

"La corruption est répandue et le président s'en débarrasse petit à petit," a assuré à l'AFP cette source à la présidence, sous couvert de l'anonymat.

Des observateurs estiment cependant que Jammeh, qui dirige le pays depuis le coup d'Etat de 1994, s'emploie à changer sans cesse de ministres afin d'écarter des rivaux potentiels et exercer pleinement le pouvoir.

En juin 2009, Jammeh avait renvoyé le président de la Cour suprême, le ministre de la Pêche puis celui des Finances ainsi que le président du Congrès.

Le chef de l'Etat, qui détenait lui-même cinq portefeuilles ministériels, a finalement confié l'Education et la Communication à de nouveaux ministres.

Mais il se charge encore de la Défense, de l'Energie, de l'Agriculture. . .

Jammeh avait déclaré l'an dernier à la télévision d'Etat qu'il était las de nommer puis de renvoyer ses ministres.

De son côté, l'analyste politique gambien Ebrima Silla, interrogé par l'AFP, a estimé que le remaniement perpétuel n'était pas un remède aux maux du pays. "Ce qu'il faut, c'est mettre les bonnes personnes à la bonne place", a-t-il dit.
